At the International Congress “CERMODEL 2015″, organised by the University of Trento, the Ceramic Centre has participated with the oral presentation “Role of Elastic-Plastic Model in Evaluating the Friction Coefficient of Ceramic Tiles”(A. Rioli, B. Mazzanti, M.C. Bignozzi).
The work, carried out in the framework of the Line of Research of Ceramic Centre Study and optimisation of anti-slip properties of pedestrian ceramic surfaces has illustrated the forecasting capabilities of an elastic model which, on the basis of the microscopic structure of the surfaces and of their elastic properties, aims to define the response of the system shoe sole/ceramic tile with respect to the friction.
The next goal of this research is to extend these results to find the optimal surface structure which maximizes the anti slip properties of the ceramic tiles.
