The Capon abrasimeter is a device for the determination of the resistance to deep abrasion of unglazed ceramic tiles.
The test is carried out by placing the sample on the instrument, so that it is tangent to the steel rotating disc and the abrasive material (corundum grain size F80) is dropped between the disc and the sample. After a certain number of revolutions of the rotating disc, the chord of the impression leaved by the abrasive material is measured. The device is calibrated according to the Standard EN ISO 10545-6.
The instrument is able to carry out the test both with standard cycles and cycles in agreement with the customer.
