Dilatometer
The dilatometry measures the dimensional variations of different types of materials as a function of a thermal cycle set:
- green wares
- fired wares
- conglomerates
- glasses
- glazes
- metals
- …
Information can be achieved about:
- firing behaviour of green wares
- coefficient of expansion of fired bodies
- coefficient of expansion of glazes, aimed at the assessment of the dilatometric agreement “glaze/biscuit”
- best sintering cycle for ceramics.
Technical features of the instrument
The dilatometer Mod. 402 E, Netzsch GmbH (D), allows the measure of the linear expansion with the following parameters:
- temperature range: from 20 to 1480 °C
- heating rate: 15 °C/min.
