The hardness is defined as the specific resistance opposed to the deformation, erosion and indentation, therefore it is a very significant property for all applications in which good wear behaviour it is required.

Technical features of the instrument

The laboratory is equipped with a micro durometer Mod. 3212, Zwick (D), supplied with an indenter for the measurement of the Vickers hardness. The instrument allows the application of loads from 50 g to 30 kg.

• 3- or 4-points static bending strength tests: determination of Vickers surface hardness
• determination of fracture toughness by Vickers indentation method.
