CCS4CER: Carbon capture storage and CO2 mineralization for Ceramic Industry

Financial plan: PR-FESR 2021-2027
Total budget: 702.852,56 €, Grant: 499.457,13 €
Project duration: 30 months
Project coordinator: CENTRO CERAMICO
Project partners: LEAP, CIRI FRAME, ROMAGNA TECH

S3 Priority thematic area: – Clean, safe and available energy and Circular Economy

The project focuses on ideating, simulating and demonstrating possible processes leading to a decarbonation of the ceramics industry, whose entire production line is proven to be massively energy demanding as well as a source of high amounts of CO2 emissions. The main goal is to identify the most efficient technologies for trapping and recycling carbon dioxide by performing material characterizations, process examinations and economic analyses. Simultaneously, an investigation on the mineralization of CO2 will be conducted, starting from converted ceramic waste materials and formulating new mixtures for “carbon-negative” concrete and mortar. The results include the release of a technical report outlining the developed technologies and applications, with a look to future implementations, as well as the promotion of the technological know-how transfer from research to industry (via publications, workshops, etc.).

BLOCK4MAT: BLOckCHain technology for ceramic and construction MaTerials supply chain

Financial plan: PR-FESR 2021-2027
Total budget: 721.040,80 €, Grant: 498.993, 55 €
Project duration: 24 months
Project coordinator: CENTRO CERAMICO
Project partners: TEKNEHUB, CIRI EC, CFR

S3 Priority thematic area – Digitization, artificial intelligence, big data (companies and PA)

The technological objective of the research is the development of a prototype (platform) of blockchain technology applied to processes involving manufacturers of building materials, specifically ceramic tiles, brick products and composite materials. The prototype will be tested and validated on a laboratory and industrial scale, directly engaging companies in the sector, then combined with the BIM methodology and other digitization processes ongoing for building materials. The achievement of the expected results will promote optimization, traceability, and data security within the construction process, promoting and strengthening the competitiveness of the supply chain from design to dismantling of the work.

AIM-eBIM: Adapted Information Management for existing Buildings Information Modeling

Financial plan: PR-FESR 2021-2027
Total budget: 699.731,93 €, Grant: 498.029,35 €
Project duration: 30 months
Project coordinator: TekneHub
Project partners: CRICT-UNIMORE, Centro Ceramico, CIRI EC, CIDEA

S3 Priority thematic area – Digitization, artificial intelligence, big data (companies and PA)

The objective of the research is the development of an adaptive digital data workflow by systematizing the procedures for the acquisition, modeling and thematic representation of information and data. In terms of BIM modeling, this translates into dataset segmentation and hierarchization in order to optimize the use of specific project parameters regarding site management, materials and production process. Criteria, algorithms and matrix catalogs will be tested, cross-referencing the different analytical and design demands to operations of thematic data extraction. The expected result is the validation of a populating strategy that can return, through application testing, a smoother and more efficient BIM modeling.

ReWINDS: Recycling of Waste into New Demonstrated Sustainable Solutions

Financial plan: PR-FESR 2021-2027
Total budget: 721.615,00 €, Grant:499.788,00 €
Project duration: 30 months
Project coordinator: CERTIMAC
Project partners: CENTRO CERAMICO, CNR ISSMC, TEKNEHUB

S3 Priority thematic area – Circular Economy

The research objectives respond to the construction supply chain’s requirements to combine the needs of companies managing Construction and Demolition Waste and material producers seeking Secondary Raw Materials to be integrated into their products in order to increase sustainability and normative conformity. Operational activities will be based on the testing of innovative formulations and technologies, laboratory validation of new materials, and quantitative demonstration of the degree of sustainability and associated emission reduction. The expected result includes the validation of the prototypes developed on pilot buildings, verifying their applicability, functionality and performance. The resulting technological improvement of the regional supply chain will be evaluated through the involvement of companies that will be able to capitalize on the results in their production process.

SAFE&SAVE: Integrated technologies for safe, resilient, efficient, sustainable, durable and interruption-free building development

Financial plan: PR-FESR 2021-2027
Total budget: 698.300 €, Grant: 499.979,50 €
Project duration: 30 months
Project coordinator: Larcoicos – laboratory for sustainable building (RiCos consortium)
Project partners: CIRI EC, TekneHub, Centro Ceramico

S3 Priority thematic area – Cities and communities of the future

The objective of the project is to propose solutions for the integrated requalification (seismic, energetic and aesthetic/architectural) of the existing urban heritage, at reduced expenses, with limited impact and resulting sustainable over the entire life cycle. Special consideration will be given to rendering the execution of interventions without interruption of the building use. The expected results will impact all sectors involved in the building and construction supply chain, such as production of materials, design, building redevelopment and construction. The results will also affect the manufacturers of the machinery required to conduct aforementioned activities and services. Individual stakeholders will be supported in the activities of experimentation, outreach and training on the developed technological solutions.
