Refractory materials

This package includes the verification service of the technical specifications of the materials.
It is given the possibility to carry out chemical, mineralogical, microstructural, physical and mechanical properties to analyse particular problems presented by the material during use.

Chemical tests, XRD, SEM-EDS

  • Chemical analysis by ICP-OES
  • Quantitative mineralogical analysis on sintered refractories
  • Microstructural analysis, with SEM observations and EDS microanalysis
  • Thermal conductivity tests (also in cooperation with agreed upon laboratory) according to the following methods:
    • Hot-wire methods (cross-array and resistance thermometer – ISO 8894-1)
    • Hot-wire method (parallel – ISO 8894-2)
    • Calorimeter (ASTM C 201).

Thermal tests

  • Dilatometry
  • Heating microscope.

Technological tests

  • Room- and high-temperature mechanical resistance (MOR, RUL)
  • Refractoriness
  • Bulk density, apparent porosity and true porosity
  • Permanent linear and volume variations
  • Thermal shocks.
