Characterisation tests for biomedical ceramic materials

Since the 90s Centro Ceramico carries out research and experimentation activities in the field of ceramic materials for biomedical applications, cooperating with companies, university departments and research centres working in the field of materials engineering and applied research to clinical practice. Thanks to its experience in this field and instruments owned, Centro Ceramico carries out tests and analyses for the characterisation of biomedical ceramics and provides assistance in the aspects concerning the design and development of such materials.
Some examples of the tests performed:

• Chemical analyses (ICP-OES)

• Mineralogical analyses (XRD)

• Thermal analyses (TG-DTA)

• Dilatometry, heating microscope

• Determination of the density and porosity

• Microstructural analysis SEM-EDS (ASTM E112, ISO 13356)

• Mapping of surface morphology (optical profilometer)

• Colour measurements

• Fractographic analyses

• Mechanical tests (hardness, fracture toughness, flexural strength).
