Monitoring of the carbonate and organic matter content in raw materials and mixes

The purpose is the critical evaluation of the carbonates (with identification of the different shapes, such as calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, or mixed) and organic substances content in the standard raw materials and recycled raw materials deriving from other supply chains for porcelain stoneware, porous and clay tile mix.
The following analyses are proposed:

• determination of the carbonate content by calcimeter according to M.D. dated Sept. 13, 1999 (G.U. S.O. no. 248 dated Oct. 21, 1999)

• determination of organic carbon content by titration with dichromate according M.D. dated Sept. 13, 1999 (G.U. S.O. no. 248 dated Oct. 21, 1999

• determination of loss on ignition at 600 °C and at 1050 °C

• determination of the carbonate content by TG-TDA and XRD.
